The [latest version] of `cargo-sort` is more opinionated than the
previous one, and is now causing the `rust-checks` job to fail on
`main`.
This commit applies the fixes needed to satisfy the new `cargo-sort`
rules. These changes were generated by running `cargo sort --workspace`
several times, until `cargo sort --check --workspace` finally succeeded
(it couldn't fix all the errors in one go, for some reason).
I have omitted the changes `cargo-sort` made to the top-level
`Cargo.toml`, to preserve the topological ordering of the workspace
members.
Closes #2014

(This is going to be a _requirement_,
since rand 0.9.1 has a behavioral change from 0.9.0)
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
I updated everything except rand, because the new version of rand
interacts with #1903, thus requiring more care.

We want to store this separately from the consensus,
because we want to access it very early in our load-from-cache
process, without checking the consensus that contains it
for timeliness.

Part of #1849.
Note that these functions are distributed across crates,
so that if (in the future) we stop doing API breaks
with every release, we will get the right outputs.
Note also that these functions build the list of protocols
out of specific symbolic features, rather than numbers:
this makes it easier to avoid errors about "which feature was
Relay=4 again", and easier to avoid accidentally referring to a
protocol that doesn't exist, like "Consensus" (should be "Cons")
or "HsDir" (case is wrong).

In 0.27.0, strum's MSRV was bumped to 1.66.1, but that's okay because
ours is 1.77.
We aren't affected by any of its [breaking changes].

(Per discussion at #1774, we think the changes are acceptable.)

Here we move the responsibility for removing ExtDoc entries for
vanished blobs into the _caller_ of read_blob(): we want to tidy all
such entries in one go.
Unlike a (reverted) previous approach, this time we don't need a
retry loop.

This is going to become a hazard. Let's be explicit.
This means using educe to derive the Default for Data.
We also need to update our educe dependency to 0.4.22, since that's
when Default(expression= "...") started working correctly.

This took a little refactoring, since derive_more::Foo
no longer re-exports std::ops::Foo.

There are new features.
cargo set-version --offline --bump minor -p fs-mistrust
Actually, I have discovered by diffing that some methods now take
`&self` where previously they took `self`. This will need a further
bump to the fs-mistrust version and a fix to the changelog.
I will do that. Filed blocker ticket #1841 for it.

Per our policy, every one of these gets a minor bump.
Generated with:
```
cargo set-version --bump minor -p $crate;
done
```
(Note the use of `-` at the end end of the grep pattern to prevent
matching the `arti` crate.)

These crates are not in the tor/arti namespace,
but we have given them MSRV bumps:
```
oneshot-fused-workaround
slotmap-careful
fslock-guard
hashx
equix
caret
fs-mistrust
safelog
test-temp-dir
retry-error
```
We are counting this as a breaking change.
Since all of these crates are at 0.x.x,
we have indicated the breaking change with a minor version bump.
This commit was generated with the following script:
```
BUMPS="
oneshot-fused-workaround
slotmap-careful
fslock-guard
hashx
equix
caret
fs-mistrust
safelog
test-temp-dir
retry-error
"
for crate in $BUMPS; do
cargo set-version --bump minor -p $crate;
done
```

This will allow us to upgrade to the latest version of rusqlite.

The `derive_more` crate broke backward compatibility with this version,
so this change involved quite a few manual fixups.
With luck, they'll keep compatibility for some while in the future.

Having this in the `tor-async-utils` crate prevents us from doing both
of the following without introducing a circular dependency:
* using it in `tor-rtmock` (which we currently do, particularly in
tests).
* using `tor-rtmock` to test things in `tor-async-utils`. We don't do
this yet, but it is generally sensible to do so. In particular we
want to move the `stream_peak` module there, which is currently tested
with `tor-rtmock`.
Moving this into its own crate avoids this circular dependency.

We're about to update to iterools 0.13.0. We must therefore have a
version of strum which is not affected by
https://github.com/Peternator7/strum/issues/358
Precisely
git-grep -l '^strum' | xargs perl -i~ -pe 's{"0\.26"}{"0.26.3"}'
No changes to lockfile - we're already using 0.26.3, except perhaps in
the minimal versions test.

This patch removes files from dir_blobs if they are not referenced
from the database, or if their filenames are not valid UTF-8.
(If they were not valid UTF-8, we wouldn't have put them in our
database.)
To ensure that there can't be any race conditions, we only do this
when the file is a bit old.
