* Bump versions: minor, with dependenciesIan Jackson2026-03-301-1/+1
| | | | | | | | As per https://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/core/arti/-/issues/2436#note_3384773 Made with cargo set-version --offline --bump minor -p retry-error
* retry-error: Port to web-time.Nick Mathewson2026-03-262-2/+39
| | | | | | | | This is independent of other crates, since this one is lower-level than the tor-* crates. Note that we're using std::time::SystemTime except for its `now` method; this will be our practice elsewhere too.
* retry-error: Remove unused variableTobias Stoeckmann2026-03-191-1/+0
| | | | | | Spotted during review by gabi-250 in another test. Signed-off-by: Tobias Stoeckmann <[email protected]>
* retry-error: Simplify extend_from_retry_errorTobias Stoeckmann2026-03-191-16/+7
| | | | | With the newly introduced count function, extend_from_retry_error can be simplified by spliting n_errors calculation from new_attempt creation.
* retry-error: Allow dedup_by to merge rangesTobias Stoeckmann2026-03-191-5/+54
| | | | | | | | | | | | The dedup_by function grows the "last_attempt" always by one, even if a range is encountered. A mergeable range can be encountered if the RetryError has been extended by another RetryError already containing a range. Take this special case into account by using the actual amount of failures of the attempt when growing. Signed-off-by: Tobias Stoeckmann <[email protected]>
* retry-error: Fix typo in dedup_by descriptionTobias Stoeckmann2026-03-171-1/+1
| | | | The function argument is named same_err, not dedup.
* Bump the versions of the non-{arti-,tor-} cratesGabriela Moldovan2026-03-021-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The non-{arti-,tor-} crates are: ``` ./maint/list-crates | rg -v '^(tor|arti)' oneshot-fused-workaround slotmap-careful test-temp-dir fslock-guard hashx equix caret fs-mistrust safelog retry-error futures-copy ``` Because this release bumps the MSRV, I am bumping the minor version of all of them. MINOR=" oneshot-fused-workaround slotmap-careful test-temp-dir fslock-guard hashx equix caret fs-mistrust safelog retry-error futures-copy " for crate in $MINOR; do cargo set-version --bump minor -p $crate; done ```
* Merge branch 'ticket_2338' into 'main'Nick Mathewson2026-02-191-0/+4
|\ | | | | | | | | | | | | Use ErrorSources where appropriate to walk an error stack. Closes #2338 See merge request tpo/core/arti!3685

* | Allow clippy::collapsible_if to triggerGabriela Moldovan2026-02-161-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | `clippy::collapsible_if` started triggering after bumping the MSRV to 1.88. Since this triggers from a lot of places, and since there even are a couple of instances where we explicitly allow `clippy::collapsible_ifs`, I've opened #2342 for deciding what to do about it.
* | Bump MSRV from 1.86 to 1.89Gabriela Moldovan2026-02-161-1/+1
|/ | | | | | | As agreed at our last team meeting. See https://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/core/arti/#minimum-supported-rust-version
* release: bump-nodep various crates.Wesley Aptekar-Cassels2026-02-021-1/+1
| | | | | | | | These were all only changed by a98faf72, which simply adds deny statements for clippy::unused_async in various places. It's not clear to me that we even need to bump these versions, but that seems to be what our release documentation implies.
* maint/add_warning: Run script to add new warningGabriela Moldovan2026-01-271-0/+1
| | | | This adds the lint to all our crates.
* meta: Remove all semver.md files post-releaseClara Engler2026-01-131-6/+0

* cargo: Bump all non arti/tor cratesClara Engler2026-01-121-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This only includes retry-error which had a few functional additions in December, thereby rasing the minor version as new features were added to the public API. Done using the following: * Find all non arti, non tor crates. * `ls -1 crates/ | grep -v "^tor-\|^arti"` * Exclude the ones without changes. * `maint/changed_crates -v "arti-v$LAST_VERSION" 2>&1 >/dev/null | grep -i "no change"` * Look into each with changes. * In this case only retry-error. * Bump the minor because it had non-trivial changes.

| | | | | | | This reverts commit e0efb477df868baf09d37de99e8e346136e66140. There wasn't a consensus on this change, so sticking with the status quo.

* Bump MSRV from 1.85 to 1.85.1Nick Mathewson2025-09-091-1/+1
| | | | Closes #2107
* Bump the minor version of every published crate except for `arti`.Nick Mathewson2025-08-281-1/+1
| | | | | | | | Per policy, we bump the minor version of every tor-*, arti-* crate on each release. We have updated our MSRV, so we're treating this as a breaking change for our non-(arti/tor)-prefixed crates too.
* Switch Cargo.toml files to edition 2024.Nick Mathewson2025-08-071-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | First, run ``` git grep -l "^edition =" | xargs perl -i -pe 's/^edition *=.*/edition = "2024"/;' ``` Second, manually verify that all Cargo.toml files have changed, and nothing else has changed. Third, run cargo fmt again.
* Update code for Edition 2024Nick Mathewson2025-08-071-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 1. Run cargo fix --edition 2. Selectively revert the "if let"->"match" changes. These changes are meant to protect us from the lifetime changes for "if let" bindings in Rust 2024. But we're not actually relying on the old lifetime rules anywhere, and the match syntax here is quite ugly. 3. Automatically revert `$pat:expr_2021` to `$pat:expr`. (We don't actually want to restrict the expression syntax that our macros accept). Done with `git grep -l expr_2021 | xargs perl -i -pe 's/expr_2021/expr/g;'` 4. Run cargo fmt.

| | | | | | | | | | | | caret, hashx, oneshot-fused-workaround, retry-error, safelog, slotmap-careful, and test-temp-dir all only had the change from 88e911acd4bb70bf1da0fc71d77b51cb6abde478 where we bump the rust-version to 1.83. Done using: ./maint/bump_nodep retry-error safelog caret hashx test-temp-dir \ slotmap-careful oneshot-fused-workaround

* Bump patchlevel for safelog, retry-error, test-temp-dir.Nick Mathewson2025-03-031-1/+1
| | | | | These crates have upgraded to a newer derive_more, and have had no other changes.
* Upgrade to derive_more 2Nick Mathewson2025-02-261-1/+1
| | | | | This took a little refactoring, since derive_more::Foo no longer re-exports std::ops::Foo.
* Patchlevel bumps for Arti 1.3.2Nick Mathewson2025-01-071-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | These crates are versioned independently. These crates have had changes to clippy warnings, and to non-exported dependencies. Additionally, the fs-mistrust crate has had only backward-compatible changes, and no new APIs. Therefore, these crates all get patchlevel bumps. Other crates don't need their dependencies updated. Done with ``` ./maint/bump_nodep $(./maint/list_crates |grep -v '^arti\|tor' ) ```

* add_warnings, *: Allow clippy::needless_lifetimesNick Mathewson2024-12-031-0/+1
| | | | | | | | In 1.83, this warning triggers on many of our crates. We're thinking of fixing them all, but for now, we're going to disable the warning. This is part of #1765.
