* Bump the versions of the non-{arti-,tor-} crates.Gabriela Moldovan2024-06-051-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | * crates that have no changes: none * crates that only have non-functional changes (bump the patch version): - test-temp-dir - fslock-guard - hashx - equix - caret - fs-mistrust - safelog - retry-error Done using ``` for c in "${non_functional[@]}"; do maint/bump_nodep $c; done ``` where `non_functional` contains the list above
* Bump patchlevel versions on non-{tor/arti} crates.Nick Mathewson2024-04-021-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | These have all had backward-compatible changes. Generated with: ``` cargo set-version --bump patch -p fs-mistrust cargo set-version --bump patch -p test-temp-dir cargo set-version --bump patch -p fslock-guard cargo set-version --bump patch -p hashx cargo set-version --bump patch -p equix cargo set-version --bump patch -p caret cargo set-version --bump patch -p safelog cargo set-version --bump patch -p retry-error ```

* Bump patchlevel (not dependents) on crates with trivial changesNick Mathewson2023-09-051-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This includes: ``` tor-basic-utils caret fs-mistrust safelog retry-error tor-events tor-units tor-geoip tor-rtcompat tor-rpcbase tor-protover tor-socksproto tor-checkable tor-congestion tor-persist tor-circmgr arti-rpcserver arti-config arti-hyper arti-bench arti-testing tor-consdiff ```
* Update minor versions on crates that have had breaking changesNick Mathewson2023-08-011-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | These crates had first-order breaking changes: ``` retry-error tor-keymgr tor-proto tor-hsclient tor-rtmock ``` Additionally, these broke because they re-exposed RetryError: ``` tor-circmgr ``` Additionally, these broke because they may re-expose something from tor-proto: ``` arti-client tor-chanmgr tor-dirclient tor-dirmgr tor-guardmgr ``` Additionally, these broke for other fiddly reasons: `tor-ptmgr` implements traits from tor-chanmgr, which has a breaking change above. `arti-hyper` exposes types from arti-client in its API.
* retry-error: Introduce a Wrapper type in a testIan Jackson2023-07-191-0/+1
| | | | | We're going to require that a RetryError contains things that are AsRef<dyn Error> and ParseIntError isn't so we need a newtype.
* retry-error: Provide fmt_error_with_sources in retry-errorIan Jackson2023-07-191-0/+1
| | | | | This code came from tor-error. So now tor-error depends on retry-error.
* Bump versions on crates with nonfunctional changesNick Mathewson2023-06-301-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | These crates have had nonfunctional changes only, mostly due to !1271, or ac90cb7500f2f108, or documentation changes: crates that depend on them do not require a version bump. ``` arti-bench arti-config arti-hyper arti-testing caret fs-mistrust retry-error tor-async-utils tor-basic-utils tor-chanmgr tor-checkable tor-congestion tor-consdiff tor-events tor-guardmgr tor-persist tor-protover tor-ptmgr tor-rtcompat tor-rtmock tor-units ```

* Run fixup-features --no-annotate for initial Cargo.toml fixes.Nick Mathewson2023-05-151-0/+5
| | | | | | | | | This does the following: - Gives every crate a `full`. - Cause every `full` to depend on `full` from the lower-level crates. - Makes every feature listed _directly_ in `experimental` depend on `__is_experimental`.
* Increment crate versions.Nick Mathewson2023-05-031-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Because of the errorkind bumps, we're calling this a breaking change in everything lower-level than `arti`. Generated with: ``` cargo set-version -p tor-basic-utils --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-async-utils --bump minor cargo set-version -p caret --bump minor cargo set-version -p fs-mistrust --bump minor cargo set-version -p safelog --bump minor cargo set-version -p retry-error --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-error --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-config --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-events --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-units --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-rtcompat --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-rtmock --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-rpcbase --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-llcrypto --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-protover --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-bytes --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-hscrypto --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-socksproto --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-checkable --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-cert --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-linkspec --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-cell --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-proto --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-netdoc --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-consdiff --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-netdir --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-congestion --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-persist --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-chanmgr --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-ptmgr --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-guardmgr --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-circmgr --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-dirclient --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-dirmgr --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-hsclient --bump minor cargo set-version -p tor-hsservice --bump minor cargo set-version -p arti-client --bump minor cargo set-version -p arti-rpcserver --bump minor cargo set-version -p arti-config --bump minor cargo set-version -p arti-hyper --bump minor cargo set-version -p arti --bump patch cargo set-version -p arti-bench --bump patch cargo set-version -p arti-testing --bump patch ```
* Increment MSRV to 1.65 in every crate.Nick Mathewson2023-04-111-1/+1
|
* Bump the patch version of each crate with _trivial_ changes.Nick Mathewson2023-02-011-1/+1
| | | | | These crates have not had changes to their behavior; as such it is not necessary to bump their dependencies to require the new versions.
* Bump the minor version of every crate.Nick Mathewson2022-11-301-1/+1
| | | | | We made this job easy this time around: by incrementing our MSRV, we have forced ourselves to do at least a minor bump everywhere.
* bump rust-version to 1.60 in every crate.Nick Mathewson2022-11-101-1/+1
|
* Update patch-versions on crates without API changes.Nick Mathewson2022-09-011-1/+1
| | | | | | | Since our last round of releases, these crates have had either trivial changes, or changes that did not affect their APIs. Therefore we are bumping their versions, but not changing which versions of them other crates depend on.
* enable doc_auto_cfg feature on every crate when documenting for docs.rstrinity-1686a2022-08-241-0/+3

* Increment versions of crates with trivial changes only.Nick Mathewson2022-06-241-1/+1
| | | | | | "Trivial" here includes stuff like cargo reformatting, comment edits, error message string changes, and clippy warning changes. Crates that depend on these do not need to increment.
* Bump the version of every* crate to 0.3.0Nick Mathewson2022-05-061-1/+1
| | | | * Except for safelog and fs-mistrust, which are new.
* Bump every crate's edition to 2021.Nick Mathewson2022-04-251-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | This is an automated change made with a perl one-liner and verified with grep -L and grep -l. Some warnings are introduced with this change; they will be removed in subsequent commits. See arti#208 for older discussion on this issue.
* Add 'rust-version = "1.56"' to every Cargo.toml file.Nick Mathewson2022-04-251-0/+1
| | | | | | | This change was made automatically with a perl one-liner, and confirmed with `grep -L`. The `rust-version` field itself was introduced in 1.56.0.
* Reformat all not-yet-reformatted Cargo.toml files.Nick Mathewson2022-04-251-3/+3
| | | | | There are no semantic changes here; only formatting. This is in preparation for other changes (wrt MSRV and edition)
* Bump caret, retry-error to 0.1.1Nick Mathewson2022-04-011-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | Unlike the rest of the crates, these don't have a "tor-" or "arti-" prefix, and are potentially used by code outside arti. With that in mind, it's probably for the best not to bump them to 0.2.0 along with the rest of our crates. They have had no changes since 0.1.0 other than refactoring and changing of clippy lints. Therefore, I'm not bumping the dependencies from other crates onto these: it's fine whether our other crates use caret/retry-error 0.1.0 or 0.1.1.

* Bump anyhow minimal version to 1.0.23Ian Jackson2022-02-181-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This is the first one where anyhow::Error impl AsRef<dyn StdError> We want this because we want to add error reporting functionality which works with all kinds of errors, which means we need an anyhow::Error which can be vieweed as a StdError. (The alternative would be to deref at the call sites of report_and_exit, making it less ergonomic.) anyhow 1.0.23 is from November 2019.

* Minimize the required version for each dependency.Nick Mathewson2022-01-071-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I found these versions empirically, by using the following process: First, I used `cargo tree --depth 1 --kind all` to get a list of every immediate dependency we had. Then, I used `cargo upgrade --workspace package@version` to change each dependency to the earliest version with which (in theory) the current version is semver-compatible. IOW, if the current version was 3.2.3, I picked "3". If the current version was 0.12.8, I picked "0.12". Then, I used `cargo +nightly upgrade -Z minimal-versions` to downgrade Cargo.lock to the minimal listed version for each dependency. (I had to override a few packages; see .gitlab-ci.yml for details). Finally, I repeatedly increased the version of each of our dependencies until our code compiled and the tests passed. Here's what I found that we need: anyhow >= 1.0.5: Earlier versions break our hyper example. async-broadcast >= 0.3.2: Earlier versions fail our tests. async-compression 0.3.5: Earlier versions handled futures and tokio differently. async-trait >= 0.1.2: Earlier versions are too buggy to compile our code. clap 2.33.0: For Arg::default_value_os(). coarsetime >= 0.1.20: exposed as_ticks() function. curve25519-dalek >= 3.2: For is_identity(). generic-array 0.14.3: Earlier versions don't implement From<&[T; 32]> httparse >= 1.2: Earlier versions didn't implement Error. itertools at 0.10.1: For at_most_once. rusqlite >= 0.26.3: for backward compatibility with older rustc. serde 1.0.103: Older versions break our code. serde_json >= 1.0.50: Since we need its Value type to implement Eq. shellexpand >= 2.1: To avoid a broken dirs crate version. tokio >= 1.4: For Handle::block_on(). tracing >= 0.1.18: Previously, tracing_core and tracing had separate LevelFilter types. typenum >= 1.12: Compatibility with rust-crypto crates x25519-dalek >= 1.2.0: For was_contributory(). Closes #275.

* Move all crates into a `crates` subdirectory.Nick Mathewson2021-08-271-0/+15
This will cause some pain for now, but now is really the best time to do this kind of thing.
