| | | | | | | | This was done using: for crate in $(./maint/list_crates | grep -P '^tor-|^arti-'); do cargo set-version -p $crate 0.31.0 done
* release: Bump crates non-arti/non-tor crates with functional changes.Alexander Hansen Færøy2025-06-051-1/+1
| | | | | | | | This is done using: cargo set-version --bump patch -p fs-mistrust cargo set-version --bump patch -p equix cargo set-version --bump patch -p fslock-guard
* ./maint/cargo_sort: Run cargo-sort on the entire workspace.Gabriela Moldovan2025-05-271-4/+18
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The [latest version] of `cargo-sort` is more opinionated than the previous one, and is now causing the `rust-checks` job to fail on `main`. This commit applies the fixes needed to satisfy the new `cargo-sort` rules. These changes were generated by running `cargo sort --workspace` several times, until `cargo sort --check --workspace` finally succeeded (it couldn't fix all the errors in one go, for some reason). I have omitted the changes `cargo-sort` made to the top-level `Cargo.toml`, to preserve the topological ordering of the workspace members. Closes #2014 [latest version]: https://github.com/DevinR528/cargo-sort/blob/f066ae80e5e6f5c1d8f0e2b8099461dcb97d9656/changelog.md#200

* chore: Run fixup-features.Wesley Aptekar-Cassels2025-04-301-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | cargo run -p fixup-features -- --exclude examples/ --exclude maint/ Cargo.toml The following features in arti-ureq were manually added to full or marked non-additive: * rustls * native-tls * tokio * async-std
* Update rand requirement to 0.9.1Nick Mathewson2025-04-291-2/+2
| | | | | (This is going to be a _requirement_, since rand 0.9.1 has a behavioral change from 0.9.0)
* Run cargo update.Wesley Aptekar-Cassels2025-04-291-2/+2
| | | | | I updated everything except rand, because the new version of rand interacts with #1903, thus requiring more care.

* arti-client: Keep a somewhat accurate notion of our release date.Nick Mathewson2025-04-161-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | This doesn't need to be perfect, but we need to use it to see if a consensus is new enough that we should obey its recommendations. This commit also adds a script to update or check our release date, and calls this script from our cargo-publish script.
* New functions to report supported subprotocolsNick Mathewson2025-04-161-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Part of #1849. Note that these functions are distributed across crates, so that if (in the future) we stop doing API breaks with every release, we will get the right outputs. Note also that these functions build the list of protocols out of specific symbolic features, rather than numbers: this makes it easier to avoid errors about "which feature was Relay=4 again", and easier to avoid accidentally referring to a protocol that doesn't exist, like "Consensus" (should be "Cons") or "HsDir" (case is wrong).
* Bump all the unstable tor- and arti- crates to 0.29.0.Gabriela Moldovan2025-03-311-27/+27

* Upgrade strum dependency to 0.27.1.Gabriela Moldovan2025-03-271-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | In 0.27.0, strum's MSRV was bumped to 1.66.1, but that's okay because ours is 1.77. We aren't affected by any of its [breaking changes]. [breaking changes]: https://github.com/Peternator7/strum/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md#0270

* Upgrade rand dependency to 0.9.Nick Mathewson2025-03-181-2/+2
| | | | | | (Per discussion at #1774, we think the changes are acceptable.) This commit won't compile on its own; subsequent commits will fix it.
* tor-rtmock: task: Remove Default impl for ThreadDescriptorIan Jackson2025-03-041-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | This is going to become a hazard. Let's be explicit. This means using educe to derive the Default for Data. We also need to update our educe dependency to 0.4.22, since that's when Default(expression= "...") started working correctly.

* Upgrade to derive_more 2Nick Mathewson2025-02-261-1/+1
| | | | | This took a little refactoring, since derive_more::Foo no longer re-exports std::ops::Foo.
* Enable derive-deftly beta featuresIan Jackson2025-02-121-1/+1
| | | | | | | | Right now this will give us `${Xmeta as ... default ...}`, which may improve things in the future. The Cargo.toml syntax is precisely that from https://docs.rs/derive-deftly/1.0.0/derive_deftly/doc_changelog/index.html#t:beta
* Update to derive-deftly 1.0Ian Jackson2025-02-121-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | This is released now. Prepared with: cargo upgrade -i -p derive-deftly There is some new duplication now I think mostly because pwd-grp uses old derive-deftly.

* fs-mistrust: bump minor version, and in-tree depsIan Jackson2025-02-061-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | There are new features. cargo set-version --offline --bump minor -p fs-mistrust Actually, I have discovered by diffing that some methods now take `&self` where previously they took `self`. This will need a further bump to the fs-mistrust version and a fix to the changelog. I will do that. Filed blocker ticket #1841 for it.
* Bump versions of internal arti crates for Arti 1.3.2Nick Mathewson2025-01-071-27/+27
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The affected crates follow our regular versioning. They all get bumped to 0.26.0. Done with ``` for crate in $(./maint/list_crates |grep '^arti-\|tor-' ); do cargo set-version --bump minor -p $crate; done ```
* Move base CfgPathResolver for arti-client back to tor-config-path.Nick Mathewson2024-12-091-2/+1
| | | | | This time, we make explicit that it is a _base_ resolver, and that it is client-only.

* PoW: Consolidate feature flags into a single flag.Wesley Aptekar-Cassels2024-11-251-4/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This replaces the hs-pow, hs-pow-full, hs-pow-v1, pow-v1, and pow-full features with a single hs-pow-full feature. It's possible that in the future we will want to split different schemes into different features, but we can do that when it comes up. For now, having this as a single flag makes it clearer what's going on, since the previous thing was not actually expressive enough to capture some things we care about (like "at least one pow scheme is enabled" that works in a future-compatible way). This change is not semver breaking since it's a experimental feature. Related: #1751
* update `CfgPath::path` to use a `CfgPathResolver`Steven Engler2024-11-181-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This is a big change across multiple crates since there isn't a good way to break it up. This changes the signature of `CfgPath::path` to: ``` pub fn path(&self, path_resolver: &CfgPathResolver) -> Result<PathBuf, CfgPathError> { ``` Making this change means that our global `CfgPathResolver` needs to be stored in the 'arti-client' library instead of `tor-config-path`, and must be passed through to anything that calls `path` to expand the variables.

| | | | | Also updated other packages to get `CfgPath` directly from `tor-config-path' instead of 'tor-config'.

* test-all-crates: conditional options, to test more cratesIan Jackson2024-10-221-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This new feature lets us provide the "enable these options which are needed to make the tests pass" featrure, which is different for each of the afflicted crates. Then we can test these crates tor-hsservice arti arti-client which minimal features. This will be important in a moment, as we're going to want to be relying on actually minimal features tests in arti cfg.rs.
* Apply `default-features = false` to all tor-memquota depsIan Jackson2024-10-161-1/+1
| | | | | | | This will allow us to make `tor-memquota/memquota` enabled by default, without forcing it to be compiled in everywhere. I don't change that in this MR, though.

* hs-pow: Refactor to prefer stub types rather than cfg sprawl.Wesley Aptekar-Cassels2024-10-091-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In this design, the thin multiplexing layer between PoW types is always available when onion services are in use, but the specific pow schemes (and their dependency libraries) are gated by crate features everywhere. There are now no new cfg() gates. When the pow-v1 scheme is disabled, we can parse `pow-params v1` lines into an empty type (so clients know a PoW scheme exists that might be supported if they were configured differently). We currently don't save the contents of unknown hsdesc items. On the relaycell side, the hs ext module already sets a strong precedent for keeping unrecognized data as a byte vec, and it doesn't provide a good way to signal soft parse errors like unrecognized optional extensions. There, the `v1` type is completely optional, and services lacking a pow scheme suggested by a client would see one of these 'unrecognized' blobs. This isn't necessarily helpful but it fits the rest of the design. Co-authored-by: Micah Elizabeth Scott <[email protected]>
* tor-hspow: Big refactor, dissolve this crateWesley Aptekar-Cassels2024-10-091-1/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | My previous strategy here was to try and centralize hspow in one crate, writing it like a self-contained feature. That introduced friction in the data types, prompting the use of simplistic types at the netdoc/cell layers and full-featured types in the optional modules. This changes tactics, dissolving the low-level parts of tor-hspow into tor-hscrypto and the high-level parts into hsclient/hsservice. Full featured types are used everywhere now, but the tradeoff is that compile-time configurability is a lot more pervasive. Anything that knows about PoW types at all needs to be fully configured out. I took this opportunity to try a more complete set of crate features, allowing users to configure individual PoW schemes. * First pass at implementing onion proof-of-work clientWesley Aptekar-Cassels2024-10-091-0/+2
| | | | | | | | This adds a module to tor-hspow for version-independent client logic. The entire module and its invocations are disabled unless the new "hs-pow" compile time feature is set. Co-authored-by: Micah Elizabeth Scott <[email protected]>

* Bump arti- and tor- crates to 0.23.0Nick Mathewson2024-09-301-26/+26
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Per our policy, every one of these gets a minor bump. Generated with: ``` for crate in $(./maint/list_crates | grep '^\(tor\|arti\)-' ); do cargo set-version --bump minor -p $crate; done ``` (Note the use of `-` at the end end of the grep pattern to prevent matching the `arti` crate.)
